Cboe Australia is an alternative trading exchange to the ASX, offering trading in ASX-listed securities as well
as its own listed investment products.
Cboe Australia was formerly known as Chi-X and launched in October 2011. In June 2021, Cboe Global
Markets Inc. completed its acquisition of Chi-X Asia Pacific Holdings Ltd. and its subsidiaries, including Chi-X
Australia Pty Ltd.
Differences between the ASX and Cboe
Both exchanges allow you to buy and sell the same ASX-listed stocks. There are two key differences to be
aware of:
• Cboe lists unique exchange traded funds (ETFs) that are not available on the ASX
• Cboe only permits day trading. Orders cannot be left overnight
