Sometimes, Selfwealth is unable to calculate the 'average price' of your holdings. This could be because you have transferred shares from another broker or registry, or because of a corporate action that has changed the ticker code or structure of your holding.
Why can't Selfwealth show me price information?
When shares are added or removed by an external party, the price information is not passed across to us. To avoid showing incorrect information, we will always set the average price to zero dollars when a new holding is added. When the average price is zero dollars no profit/loss information is calculated for that holding.
If extra units are externally allocated to an existing holding, the average price will not change at all.
How do I update the average price, and what should I set it to?
You can update the average price manually by following the instructions in this article. To calculate the average price in these cases you should refer to your records if the shares were transferred from elsewhere.
If a corporate action such as a stock split has occurred, you should refer to the relevant announcement published to the ASX by the stock issuer for further information. For more information on how to view company announcements please click here.
As you proceed to purchase additional holdings in the same security the average price will automatically be updated, until you sell all or part of your shareholding.
