We’ve simplified the application process to get you started faster and easier. For all new accounts that onboarded on or after the 24th October 2025, dividend payments will now default to your Selfwealth ANZ cash trading account automatically. This applies to customers who request a new Holder Identification Number (HIN), helping create a smooth and seamless experience.
Below are answers to frequently asked questions about how dividend bank account details are managed and what to expect.
What happens to my dividend details when I open a new ASX shares portfolio with Selfwealth?
When you apply for a new ASX shares portfolio, your holdings will be registered under a new HIN with Selfwealth.
By default, all dividend and distribution payments will be directed to your Selfwealth ANZ cash trading account.
What if I prefer not to have dividends paid into my Selfwealth ANZ cash trading account?
You have two options:
1. Update via the share registry
You can update your bank details directly through the relevant share registry or by contacting them. The registry will confirm any changes via email or post, depending on your communication preferences.
Once updated, you should notify Selfwealth so we can remove the default dividend instruction from your HIN.
2. Request Selfwealth to update it for you
You can complete our dividend income form to nominate a different bank account. We’ll update your preference on your HIN.
What happens if I transfer an existing ASX portfolio to Selfwealth?
If you transfer an existing HIN to Selfwealth, your holdings remain under the same HIN.
During the application process, you can choose whether to direct dividends to your Selfwealth ANZ cash trading account.
If you opt in, your Selfwealth account details will be sent to the share registries and will override any existing dividend instructions.
If you do not opt in, your existing dividend arrangements should remain unchanged however we would recommend you log into each share registry to check following the HIN transfer.
You can update your dividend details at any time via the relevant share registry.
How do I find the correct share registry?
You can find the relevant share registry on the ASX website:
Visit www.asx.com.au
Search for the stock code
Select the correct listing
The share registry details will appear at the bottom of the page
What if I’ve already updated my bank details with the share registry?
If you update your bank details directly with a share registry:
The change applies only at the registry level
The registry will notify you of the update
Selfwealth will not automatically be aware of this change
To keep your account aligned, we recommend notifying Selfwealth after making updates with a registry to ensure we can remove the default dividend instruction that would have been applied at onboarding.
Can I update my dividend details at any time?
Yes. You can update your dividend or distribution details at any time by:
Logging into the relevant share registry portal,
Contacting the share registry directly, or
Completing our dividend income form and emailing it to selfwealth@support.com.au
What notifications will I receive if my details are updated?
If updated by Selfwealth: You’ll receive an email confirmation from us, and the share registry may also notify you.
If updated via a registry: The registry will notify you based on your communication preferences.
Will this affect my Dividend Reinvestment Plan (DRP)?
No. Any existing Dividend Reinvestment Plan (DRP) elections will remain unchanged.
